LEEDing the Industry: XLERATOR® Hand Dryer Highlighted in USGBC Fellow Penny Bonda’s New Green Building Book
Sustainable Hand Drying Solution
At Excel Dryer, we have a rich history of innovation and a deep commitment to our environment, two important reasons why we have been featured in a new book by U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) fellow, Penny Bonda. The second edition of Sustainable Commercial Interiors is a comprehensive guide about the latest in green and sustainable design.
In her book, Bonda highlighted the Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) performed by Quantis International, comparing Excel Dryer’s high-speed, energy-efficient XLERATOR® hand dryer, conventional hand dryers and paper towels, both virgin and 100% recycled. The assessment – which determined the environmental impact of providing 10 years of service (or drying 260,000 pairs of hands) – confirmed the XLERATOR hand dryer reduces the hand drying carbon footprint by 50-70 percent when compared to both traditional hand dryers and even 100 percent recycled paper towels.
Bonda noted that the LCA was peer-reviewed by an independent panel of Life Cycle Assessment experts to ensure compliance with ISO 14040 principals and frameworks and 14044 requirements and guidelines, widely regarded as the globally accepted standards for life-cycle-based environmental assessments.
As evident by the LCA, Excel Dryer can substantiate the XLERATOR hand dryer’s performance and sustainability claims. The XLERATOR hand dryer is the most sustainable hand drying solution.
