Promoting Sustainability with Our New Honeybee Haven
At Excel Dryer, we pride ourselves not only on our high-speed, energy-efficient hand dryers, but also on the sustainability initiatives we’ve implemented in our own office. Over the past two years, we’ve transformed our space into a state-of-the-art, green and health-conscious workplace of the future—complete with an on-site “honeybee haven.” In this blog, we explore how our sustainability initiatives, including our collaboration with Best Bees, make a positive impact on the environment.
A Uniquely Sweet Partnership
Why honeybees? Our partnership serves multiple purposes, such as ensuring reliable bee health while supporting global food security. Each hive from Best Bees contributes valuable data to ongoing research, helping to expand the bee population and enhance sustainability benefits. By cultivating local honey, we are actively participating in the conservation and preservation of honeybees.
Through the addition of honeybee hives, we strive to educate and raise awareness about the critical role these pollinators play in our environment. In 2023 we hosted a “Meet the Beekeeper” event, to allow people to learn more about the bees while sampling the delicious honey produced on site. The custom-designed hive homes even match our hand dryer covers, showcasing a seamless integration of eco-conscious design elements.
WELL: Building to a New Standard
Our renovation wasn’t just about honeybee homes; it was also about our home, exemplifying a human-centric approach to commercial office spaces. The 5,000-square-foot expansion prioritizes the health, well-being and safety of our employees. It includes offices, a break room, meeting rooms, a new reception area, open-concept cubicles and even a fitness room. Drawing inspiration from the WELL Building Standard®, we incorporated strategies and materials to create an optimal working environment. This holistic approach ensures our employees can thrive while reflecting our commitment to sustainability.

Sustainability isn’t a new concept for us. We’ve been leading the way for decades. In 2015, we commissioned an environmental LCA to measure the impacts of our high-speed, energy-efficient XLERATOR Hand Dryer, conventional dryers and paper towels. That study found XLERATOR reduced the environmental impact of hand drying by 50%–75% over a decade when compared to traditional electric hand dryers and 100% recycled paper towels.
