How To Adjust Motor Speed, Sound, Heat, Sensor Range
Follow these easy step-by-step instructions to carefully and successfully adjust motor speed, sound, heat & sensor range. In response to customers’ requests for control over the air velocity, temperature, and sound, we added controls in the hand dryer. There are three knobs on the control assembly in the unit that allow for adjustments to the motor, heat, and sensor range.
Step One: Disconnect the power supply to the dryer, usually located in your electrical panel box, and remove your cover.
Step Two: Confirm power is disconnected by checking if there is any voltage at the terminal block.
When facing the unit, the control assembly is on the right. The three knobs are marked “M” for motor,
“R” for range and “H” for heat.
Dialing down the motor results in less power, therefore, quieter.
Step Three: Turning the “M” knob counterclockwise turns down the motor speed. Factory settings are set at maximum speed for the fastest dry time.
Step Four: Adjust to the preferred sound level: high, medium, or low.
Step Five: Once adjustments are complete, replace and fasten the cover.
For the standard XLERATOR, you may want to use less heat or wattage. Turning the knob marked “H” counterclockwise will reduce or turn off the heat. Given the XLERATOReco model has no heating element, only the motor speed and sound can be adjusted. The “H” or heat knob does exist in these units; however, it is non-functioning. The sensor range can be adjusted as well if you find a unit is false triggering due to an obstruction such as a countertop or basket underneath the dryer. Turning the knob marked “R” counterclockwise decreases the sensor range.
