How To Remove The Blower Motor From The Wall Plate
Follow these easy step-by-step instructions on carefully and successfully removing the XLERATOR blower motor from the wall plate.
Step One: Disconnect the power supply to the dryer, usually located in your electrical panel box, and remove your cover.
Step Two: Confirm power is disconnected by checking if there is any voltage at the terminal block. We recommend taking a phone picture of the terminal block to note wire positions.
Step Three: Disconnect wires supplying power to the dryer from “N” and “L” on the terminal block.
Leave other wires connected to the terminal block.
Step Four: Unplug the green ground wire at the control bracket on the right side of the unit.
Step Five: Remove four screws from the left side of the blower motor and remove the two housing retainers. It is not necessary to remove the screws or retainers from the right side. Save these screws and retainers to install the new blower motor.
Step Six: Tilt the left side of the blower motor assembly to clear the left housing mounts.
Step Seven: Pull the blower motor assembly towards the left to free it from right housing mounts. The blower motor assembly should now be free.
Step Eight: Remove rubber grommets from inside right housing retainers if they did not already come out.
Now Reinstall the Blower Motor From the Wall Plate
Step Nine: Make sure the green ground wire previously disconnected is under the housing before sliding back into holders.
Step Ten: Install the new or repaired blower motor assembly by inserting the right-side mounting extensions under the right housing retainers. Make sure the rubber housing grommets are installed and pushed firmly toward the right to slide into the holder.
Step Eleven: Make sure that the wires from the motor and heating element are routed under the housing and between the housing mounts on the left side before reinstalling the housing retainers.
Step Twelve: Press down to fully seat the new assembly.
Step Thirteen: Reinstall housing retainers with the screws previously removed, making sure that the two bumps on the retainers are pointed toward the outside of the dryer.
Step Fourteen: New dryer insides only use the one green ground wire, which is attached to the dryer base plate and routed under the blower housing assembly.
Step Fifteen: Reattach the ground wire previously removed to the control bracket.
Step Sixteen: Reconnect the power supply as it was when originally disconnected, or refer to the wiring schematic inside the cover or supply with the blower motor assembly.
Step Seventeen: Replace the cover and restore power.
